Global Korea Scholarship For Indians
The purpose of this international scholarship offered by the Republic of Korea is to promote international exchanges in work and education. Moreover, with this scholarship, the country also seeks to improve the mutual friendship between other countries. The Global Scholarships for Indian students in South Korea is offered for undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD courses. Every year, approximately 200 undergraduate students and 1,080 graduate students benefit from this scholarship from all around the world.
To be eligible for this scholarship, you need to be a citizen of any country except North or South Korea. You must also provide evidence that you are mentally and physically fit to stay in South Korea for the duration of your studies. The age limit for undergraduate students is 25 years whereas, the ceiling age limit for graduate students is 40 years.
This is a merit-based, competitive scholarship that requires you to have a GPA equivalent to 80% in your previous year of study. Additionally, you must hold a degree certificate from your previous year of matriculation that you will need to submit while applying for this scholarship.
All grantees are required to take Korean language classes for 1 year (before the commencement of their programme) which is located on campus.
This international scholarship for Indian students in South Korea is generous and covers a wide category of costs for its scholars. The benefit includes covering an airfare ticket cost, settlement allowance up to KRW 200,000, living allowance, medical insurance, language course fees, and research support.
Yonsei International Scholarship For International Students
With a strong network in more than 77 countries and 700 educational institutions, Yonsei University has maintained a reputation for global excellence in education. In the year 2020, there were more than 5000 international students enrolled in a course at Yonsei University out of which approximately 500 students were able to obtain a scholarship to study in South Korea. The institute offers a number of undergraduate and graduate scholarships to Indian as well as international students.
List of Scholarships Offered by Yonsei University For International Students:
- Need-based, merit-based and admissions scholarship offered by Yonsei University at Underwood International College (UIC).
- Graduate Scholarships such as the Graduate Leader Fellowship covers tuition fees for four semesters for Master’s and PhD and six semesters for joint degrees. This is a merit-based scholarship and you are expected to obtain 3.4 on a scale of 4.0 to renew this scholarship.
- Outstanding international student scholarship offered to students who are recommended by each department and score a minimum of 3.4 on a scale of 4.0. However, a scholar is chosen only once per semester.
The benefit of the scholarship extends beyond covering your tuition fees. You will be provided with a living expense, monthly stipend and settlement allowance for relocation.
Scholarships Scholarship For Indian Students In South Korea
The Korean Government offers several undergraduate, graduate and research programme scholarships through the Indian Embassy in Korea. South Korea attracts a number of international students from all around the globe. Korean Universities are oriented towards attracting international students and conduct 30% of their lectures in English.
The Korean Government scholarship is jointly offered by the Korean Government and The Government of India.
Scholarships for Indian students in South Korea are offered to meritorious Indian students who are willing to study in higher educational institutions in the Republic of Korea. The scholarship is offered in 4 fields of study:
- International Relations
- Korean Language and Literature
- Electrical Engineering
- Biotechnology
Only 10 out of the 15 students nominated, who are below 40 years of age are awarded this scholarship. In addition to that criterion, you need to score a minimum GPA of 2.6 on a scale of 4.0 with an overall percentile of 80% and above. In addition to that, you need to provide evidence of good mental and physical health conditions that is authorised by professionals.
Koren Government Scholars from India will be eligible for several benefits from the scholarship award. This includes a settlement allowance of KRW 200,000, a monthly allowance of KRW 900,000, an airfare grant, a tuition fee, a language training fee and medical insurance worth KRW 20,000 per month.
Korean Government Support Program For Foreign Exchange Students
To facilitate and enhance the experience of foreign students in South Korea, the Korean Government offers this scholarship to approximately 200 international students. Every year foreign students can visit South Korea and learn about its culture, get educated with fellow students for a period of 4 to 6 months.
To be eligible for this scholarship, you must belong to a university that is a partner of GKS for Foreign Exchange Programs. This is a once in a lifetime scholarship opportunity and cannot be received by the same student twice. Candidates are selected competitively, for initial consideration, you must score 80% as a subject average. Applying to study the Korean language is not enough, you must register to learn a regular course. You must apply for a course at one of the participating universities.
Foreign exchange students are eligible for several benefits through this support program. The scholarship amount includes a living allowance of KRW 5,00,000 per month, a settlement allowance of up to KRW 200,000, medical insurance and 100% reimbursement of the air ticket.
