Every month, candidates can choose from four IELTS test dates. The IELTS Academic test takes place 48 times per year. Adding to that, the IELTS General Training Test is also administered 48 times per year. It's worth noting that in India, the time slots for IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training may differ.

IELTS dates are generally scheduled forheld on Saturdays and Thursdays of each week at accredited IELTS test centres across the country for convenience and flexibility. The test's listening, speaking, and writing sections are all given on the same day; however, the speaking section is given during the next seven days.

A candidate must keep in mind their university admission dates & timelines then accordingly schedule an IELTS test date. To prevent making a last-minute mistake, students who plan to take the IELTS test should schedule their exam three to four months before their application deadline. In India, the IELTS test is available in several significant cities.

Exams for the IELTS can be scheduled four times per month. On the IELTS IDP website, you can select your IELTS test dates and a convenient test centre, as well as the sort of exam you want to take, such as IELTS Academic Training or IELTS General Training. 

The IELTS computer-based test is available up to three times every day, seven days a week. After taking the test, candidates can expect to receive their results in 2-5 days. As a result, you can arrange your IELTS test anytime you choose. Aside from that, the IELTS test can be taken up to four times every month on paper.

Due to the strong demand for students wishing to pursue higher education overseas and needing an IELTS to do so. In Tier 1 cities, IDP IELTS India is conducting the IELTS Computer-Based Exam throughout July and August (with the exception of August 15, 2024). Below are the cities where IELTS Test is conducted in India. 

The IELTS exam schedule can be cancelled or rescheduled by candidates. Candidates, on the other hand, can postpone or cancel the exam in person or via email. You cannot cancel or reschedule an appointment over the phone.

You will receive a refund of less than 25% of the administrative charge if you postpone or cancel your application more than 5 weeks before the exam date. Candidates who cancel less than 5 weeks before the exam date will not receive a refund. Those who do not show up for the exam will not receive a refund.

IDP IELTS Exam Dates: Cancellations & Refunds

IELTS recognises that unforeseen circumstances may arise, and candidates may need to change or cancel their test date. To ensure fairness and consistency, there are specific guidelines and procedures in place for such situations.

If a candidate is facing exceptional circumstances such as a severe medical condition, bereavement, or military service, they are encouraged to approach the IELTS test centre as soon as possible, either before or up to five calendar days after the test date. The centre will assess their case and decide, considering the evidence provided.

In the rare event that the test centre cancels a test due to circumstances beyond their control, they will give candidates as much notice as possible and offer a full refund or a transfer to a future test date at no extra cost.

Please keep in mind that you will only receive one copy of your TRF, or two copies if you are simultaneously applying to Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). You can request that the test centre mail you the results, or you can pick them up in person if that is more convenient.
