The PEO International Peace Scholarship Fund is a scholarship program launched by the PEO international organization i.e Philanthropic Educational Organization. It is specifically meant for women, to give them representation in higher education and empower them. PEO is all about promoting universal sisterhood. The PEO international peace scholarship funds various scholarships for selected award winners from the USA and Canada to study in any top university in these countries. Women from countries USA and Canada are invited to apply for this scholarship program each year. Ever since its inception, scores of women have benefited from this scholarship scheme.
The International Peace Scholarship Fund was established way back in the year 1949 as a program that sought to help and empower women all over the world in the field of education. All members of P.E.O commit to the belief that education is vital for world peace and understanding.
What Are The PEO Scholarship Details?
The PEO international scholarship is awarded to selected applicants on the display of financial needs. However, the scholarship does not cover the entire academic and personal expenses of the students. It is important for students to understand this and at the time of application display proof of additional financial resources which should be to meet her additional expenses. Examples of such economic resources include personal funds, and family wealth tuition waivers and work scholarships received, teaching scholarships, fellowships, study grants, and all other scholarships.
The monetary worth of the most valuable scholarship awarded to a student is $12,500. Lesser amounts of scholarships are sometimes awarded based on personal needs.
Eligibility Criteria For The PEO International Peace Scholarship
All applicants must fulfill the following criteria to be eligible to apply for the PEO scholarship programme-
- The applicant must be qualified to study for a full time graduate degree and have received confirmed admission for the same at an accredited university in the USA or Canada.
- Any applicant who is a citizen or a permanent resident of either the United States of America or Canada is not eligible to apply for the scholarship program.
- These international peace scholarships are not provided to fund the following if it is not a part of the full time course- online courses, research, internships or for practical training.
- In order to be shortlisted for their first scholarships, applicants must have a pending year of coursework and be enrolled in residence for the entire school year.
- PhD students who have completed their course and are now working only on their dissertations are not eligible to apply as first-time applicants for the PEO peace scholarship program.
- Overseas students who are attending Cottey College are eligible to apply for this scholarship.

How To Apply For The International Peace Scholarship?
- All applicants must submit the application form before the given deadlines.
- The applications for the PEO peace scholarship are sent to Cottey College students after they are admitted to the college and are recommended by the Director of Admission for the scholarship program.
- All the extra information concerning the scholarship is available on the official website of PEO international.
- Students are required to fill the eligibility form for the scholarship available on request or on the official website.
- The Eligibility Form needs to be submitted between August 15- December 15 each year. The form needs to be filled and submitted at the earliest, even before receiving the main application form.
- PEO International Peace Scholarship Fund for women annual application deadline- The application form closes for submission on 15 December each year.

PEO Organization And Awards
The scholarship is funded by the PEO sisterhood foundation’s initiative for international women.
Number of Awards- The number of scholarships awarded each year varies, depending on the number of women who are eligible for and qualify for the scholarship program.
The scholarship is awarded by PEO international based on the belief that “education is fundamental to world peace and understanding”. The funds are contributed by all members of the PEO sisterhood for the sole purpose of providing academic scholarships to women outside the USA and Canada. One of the main conditions of awarding the scholarship is that the winner, on completing her degree or course, shall return to her home country within a period of two months depending on her visa status to pursue her career in her chosen profession. Applicants can have the U.S. or Canadian citizen sponsoring them, but these sponsors must act as her non-academic advisor and provide her with help in case of an emergency. The winners are announced in the month of May.
