What Are The Options For Paying Tuition Fees At USF?
USF offers one of the lowest tuition rates in the US. The cost of attendance, also called the student budget, is charged annually and consists of direct and indirect costs. Direct costs include tuition, housing and meal charges. Indirect costs are usually expenses of transportation, college supplies like textbooks, lab equipment, and other personal expenses. USF also has many financial aid options available to fund students’ education. A grant is money provided by the federal or state government or the institution itself, and applicants aren’t required to pay it back. Scholarships are funds provided to students based on their academic performance or talent like athletics or music. Students can also acquire loans which are awarded irrespective of their financial needs. Lastly, students can also work alongside their studies to earn extra money. Federal work-study jobs are a part-time income source for undergraduate students with financial needs. However, only the students who receive FWS awards as part of a financial aid package are eligible to apply for these jobs. Several on-campus and off-campus jobs are also available.
For graduate students, graduate assistantships are available depending on the funding from the university and grants awarded to faculty. The job description includes conducting research, teaching, or carrying out other similar tasks.
What Basic Requirements Should I Take Care Of For Enrollment?
At USF, the candidates’ high school GPA is recalculated based on the grades earned only in core academic subjects, along with specified AP and IB fine and performing arts. The prerequisite is that students earn a minimum ‘C’ grade. Freshmen are required to submit official results of at least one college-level entrance exam, that is, either SAT or ACT. Students are also encouraged by the university to update their new scores each time they write these exams since only the highest scores are taken into account. Along with these entrance exams, candidates are required to have completed a minimum of 18 approved units of high school work in the five core subjects in addition to three approved electives.
Students are also required to have completed two units or semesters of the same foreign language for their application to be considered for admission. Although USF does not evaluate any essay or personal statement, they evaluate the strength of the candidate’s high school curriculum and also encourage students to take dual enrollment courses.
Transfer students need to have a course completion ratio of more than 66 per cent, along with the basic GPA requirements. For graduate applicants, a bachelor’s degree or equivalent along with English proficiency tests is also required. A minimum score of 6.5 in IELTS, 53 in PTE-A, 629 in TOEFL (iBT – 79; PBT – 550), and 163 in GRE verbal is expected by the university. International students need immigration information. Most of them come on F-1 or J-1 student visas, however, students must note that individuals in F-2 and B1/B2 (visitor) status are prohibited from studying in a degree-seeking program.
