2. DAAD Scholarships

The DAAD Scholarships with Relevance to Developing Countries is one of the best scholarships in Europe for international students, specifically postgraduate international students. The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) provides these scholarships to students from developing countries at accredited German Universities. This scholarship programme is targeted at international students and young professionals from developing countries in Africa, Asia, Pacific Islands, Central and South America and Central and Eastern Europe. 4. Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship

The Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships for Foreign Students is an excellent PhD scholarship for international students in Europe. International students from over 180 countries can win the opportunity to pursue doctoral or postdoctoral research in any academic field at any public funded university or recognized institution in Switzerland. Since this is a fully funded scholarship programme, students need not worry about the cost of tuition fees, health insurance, lodging allowance. Moreover, recipients of this scholarship are awarded a monthly allowance. 

5. Italian Government Bursaries For Foreign Students 

Italian Government Bursaries for Foreign Students is a fully funded scholarship programme backed by the Italian Government. This scholarship is meant for both Italian and foreign citizens. The scholarship amount can be used towards University degree courses, Advanced vocational training, art and music courses, Masters Degree courses, PhD Courses, etc. The Italian Government Bursaries for Foreign Students covers the entire cost of tuition fees, health and medical insurance. Recipients of this scholarship also win a 900 Euros monthly allowance on a quarterly basis, which will be paid directly to their Italian bank account. 

6. Swedish Institute Study Scholarships 

Swedish universities are known for their high-quality universities and liberal academic pedagogy. In order to attract more international students to its universities, the Swedish Government started the Swedish Institute Study Scholarships. This Master’s scholarship programme is meant for highly-qualified international students from developing countries who want to study in Sweden. The Swedish Institute Study Scholarship is a full scholarship for international students in Europe that covers tuition fee, living expenses, some travel grant, and insurance.

7. Gates Cambridge Scholarships 

When it comes to scholarships in Europe for international students, the Gates Cambridge Scholarships instantly come to mind. This popular scholarship programme is open to outstanding applicants from countries outside the UK. International students who wish to pursue a full-time postgraduate degree in any subject available at the University of Cambridge are eligible to apply. The scholarship covers the entire cost of education at Cambridge University. This includes the University Composition Fee and College fees at the appropriate rate, a maintenance allowance for a single student, one economy single airfare at both the beginning and end of the course, and inbound visa costs.

8. Leiden University Excellence Scholarships 

The Leiden University Excellence Scholarship Programme (LExS) was established specifically to help outstanding Non-EU/EEA students enrolling at Leiden University. Students who wish to pursue a Master’s degree in the Netherlands can apply for this scholarship. The scholarships come in the form of the following – 

  • €10,000 of the tuition fee.
  • €15,000 of the tuition fee.
  • Total tuition fee minus the home fee.

9. ETH Excellence Scholarships 

ETH Excellence Scholarships are an excellent way to finance your postgraduate degree in Switzerland. These scholarships are categorized into two types, the Excellence Scholarship & Opportunity Programme (ESOP) and the Master Scholarship Programme (MSP). The Excellence Scholarship includes a grant covering living and study expenses (CHF 11,000 per semester) as well as a tuition fee waiver. On the other hand, the Master Scholarship Programme consists of a partial stipend for living and study expenses (CHF 6,000 per semester) as well as a tuition fee waiver. This is a highly sought after external scholarship for international students in Europe.

10. Lund University Global Scholarship

Top academic students who are citizens of countries from outside the European Union/European Economic Area, are recommended to apply for this scholarship. The Lund University Global Scholarships for Non-EU/EEA Students is one of the most prestigious scholarships in Europe for international students. This scholarship is eligible to both Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree students enrolled at Lund University. The scholarship will cover 25%, 50%, 75% or 100% of the tuition fee, depending on the academic background of the applicant. 

11. Bologna University Study Grants

The great part about the Bologna University Study Grants for International Students is that it is open to all course levels. International students who wish to register for First Cycle (Bachelors), Second Cycle (Masters) or Single Cycle Degree Programmes at the University of Bologna can freely apply for this scholarship. This makes it one of the best full undergraduate scholarships for international students in Europe. Each study grant is awarded for one academic year and amounts to a total of €11,059.
