Private Universities In Canada

Canada is home to world-class universities that consistently rank among the best in the world. While studying in Canada you will receive a world-class education due to the high academic standards and stringent quality control. The 10 provinces and 3 territories that makeup Canada are in charge of education. This means that strong quality control in higher education is upheld by provincial law and frequently includes external agency reviews and internal university reviews. While there are dozens of great private universities in Canada, we’ll focus on a few of the favourites among international students with top rankings!

List Of Private Universities In Canada

Schulich School Of Business At York University

The Schulich School of Business at York University is one of the largest business private universities in Canada and one of the largest in North America. It is located on Keele Street near the York University campus in Toronto (Canada). The university offers a wide variety of undergraduate and graduate programmes in business, accounting, finance, economics, management, marketing and information systems. The school’s MBA programme has been recognized as among the top 20% for internationalization by Financial Times.

Ivey Business School

Ivey Business School is one of the best business schools in the world. It is ranked #1 in Canada and #7 globally by The Financial Times, making it one of only two private universities in Canada for business studies (the other being Rotman) to make it onto that list. Ivey’s MBA programme has also been ranked first in Canada for the last 10 years by Aon Hewitt.

The school was founded in 1949 as part of Western University. In 1964, Charles Catto became the dean of what was then called The School of Commerce and Finance at Western. He wanted to build up a strong business school so he worked with alumnus Peter Munk—who would go on to found Barrick Gold Corporation—to raise funds for a new building on campus that would house both undergraduate classes and graduate programmes such as an MBA programme as well as executive education courses like those offered through Wharton Executive Education today; these courses are still taken by executives from companies like Facebook, JP Morgan Chase & Co., Google Fiber Inc., Boeing Co., General Electric Co., Lockheed Martin Corp., etc.

University of Waterloo’s Conrad Business

One of the programmes that makes the University of Waterloo the best private university in Canada is its Economics and Entreprueship programme. This unique programme offers students the opportunity to study business and economics, as well as entrepreneurship, in a single programme. The Conrad School of Business has been providing innovative business education for over 40 years and is consistently ranked among Canada’s top programmes. Students will be able to pursue their interests in diverse areas such as marketing research or financial management through courses taught at both Conrad School of Business and the Faculty of Arts; these include –

  • Marketing Research Methods course which is taught by UW’s Faculty of Arts Department of Economics
  • Finance I which is taught by UW’s Faculty of Arts Department of Economics
  • Marketing Management course which is taught by UW’s Faculty of Psychology & Education

McGill Faculty of Management (Desautels)

The McGill Faculty of Management is one of the best private universities in Canada; it has ranked 1st in Canada for MBA programmes, 5th in Canada for undergraduate business programmes and 7th in Canada for masters of finance programmes. With more than 5,000 students enrolled each year, this internationally recognized school offers a wide variety of courses that cover everything from accounting to marketing. The faculty also has a number of competitive scholarships available for students applying to the MBA programme—including one renewable scholarship valued at $48,000 over three years for an international student with a minimum GPA of 3.7 on 4.0!

Rotman School of Management (University of Toronto)

The Rotman School of Management (University of Toronto) is among the top private universities in Canada for business programmes and the 9th best globally. It’s also known for its strong reputation in entrepreneurship, finance and management sciences. Rotman has a large student body with over 4,000 students enrolled each year. The school offers over 100 undergraduate and graduate programmes including specialized degrees like MBA, PhDs and Executive Education programmes.

Queen’s University’s Smith School Of Business

Queen’s University’s Smith School of Business is the oldest business school in Canada and has been ranked among the top 20 global MBA programmes since 2005. The programme aims to develop students into effective leaders who understand how to make a difference in their professions and communities. The school offers both a full-time MBA and an Executive MBA programme, which allows students to study part-time while working full-time. To qualify for admission, applicants must submit an application form with supporting documents that include essays outlining career goals and personal interests; official transcripts from all previous postsecondary education; two letters of reference (one academic, one professional); proof of English proficiency; and an up-to-date resume or CV.

Conclusion

Canadian universities have a lot to offer. They often have smaller class sizes than many other countries, making for a more personal experience. They also tend to have higher tuition rates than public universities in the United States but lower ones than private schools here at home. If you’re looking to dive into an MBA programme that will give you the best of both worlds—smaller classes and affordability—consider visiting one of these top-notch institutions!
