National Overseas Scholarships For Tribal Students
These National Overseas Scholarships were designed for Student Tribe students and developed by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs. The scholarship selects students who belong to the Scheduled Tribes to pursue their tertiary education. The government of India, that is protected the interest of minority students who want to study 9 fields of study:
- Engineering
- Social Sciences
- Humanities
- Medicine
- Economic/Finance
- Pure Science
- Agriculture
- Applied Science
The scholarship is available for Master’s, Post Doctoral, and Phd studies.
Students who want to study at the Master’s level of study are eligible to apply for this scholarship only if they score a minimum of 55% or equivalent in their Bachelor’s level. For all levels of study you are applying for, you need to score a minimum of 55% or equivalent in your previous years of study. Additionally, you are eligible for this scholarship only if you are less than 35 years of age. Only students with a family income less than 6 lakhs from all sources are eligible to apply. You will need to provide evidence of your family income by submitting a tax assessment form while applying for this scholarship. For this scholarship, only a single child of the same parent can apply.
Every year, only 20 scholars are selected for these study abroad scholarships for minorities. 17 of the candidates are selected from scheduled tribes and 3 from Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups. The scholars are eligible for an award against tuition fees, health insurance, travel allowance. You will also be eligible for a maintenance allowance of USD 15,400 for the USA and GBP 9,900 in the UK. In addition to that, you will be provided with a cost cover for books, stationery, and other college supplies. This will amount to USD 1,532 for the US and GBP 1,116 for the UK. If you plan to visit the country you are applying to, this scholarship will also cover your visa application fees and the poll tax.

Minority Scholarships To Study Abroad By Semester At Sea
Institute for Shipboard Education is a unique educational movement introduced by James Edwin Lough of the New York University. With an aim that there need to be changed in the traditional education system of the USA, he established a first-hand learning experience. Students from all nationalities are eligible to apply for these minority study abroad scholarships. However, preference will be given to candidates who belong to underrepresented communities such as Race, background, ethnic minorities, LGBTQ, low income, and veterans.
Semester at Sea is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity offered to students that are inspired to learn on a voyage. Every student who is granted a scholarship through this inclusive engagement program is eligible for an allowance of upto USD 5,000. In addition to this allowance, you will also be offered an airfare grant from your home country to the country of your destination.
Overseas Doctoral Fellowship Programme
The Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) which is a statutory body of the Government of India offers study abroad scholarships for minority students. The scholarship is specially granted to academically brilliant Indian students who have completed their graduation from an Indian university and are willing to pursue their PhD abroad. The scholarship covers only 4 fields of study, which are: Engineering, Medicine, Technology, and Science.
The scholarship is applicable to students who are willing to complete their studies in the following universities:
- Cambridge University – UK
- Carnegie Mellon University – USA
- Stanford University – USA
- University of Southern California – USA
- University of California, Irvine – USA
- Rice University – USA
- The State University of New York – USA
- University of British Columbia – Canada
Only Indian nationals are eligible for these minority scholarships to study abroad. In addition to that, you must receive a letter of acceptance from the university you are applying to, before applying for this scholarship. The Doctoral Scholars are eligible for a fellowship amount of $24,000 for a period of 4 years. In most cases, the scholarship is non-renewable but can happen so in exceptional circumstances. In addition to that, you will also be provided with an airfare grant and an allowance of Rs. 60,000 to cover contingency costs.
IES Study Abroad Scholarships For Minorities
The International Education of Students (IES) offers need-based minority study abroad scholarships to a diverse group of students every year. Their diverse range of scholarships aims to cover students that belong to underrepresented sections of society. This also includes students who have a low family income and would not be able to study abroad without a scholarship or a grant.
You are eligible to apply for this scholarship if you have applied to a university that supports the IES study abroad program. In addition to that, you need to transfer 75% of the aid towards your tuition fees.
Awards are available from USD 5,000 per semester to USD 1,000 for a semester.
