The University of Connecticut (UConn) is a public land-grant research university located in Storrs, Connecticut, a village in the Mansfield township. The institution falls under the category of "R1: Doctoral Universities - Very High Research Activity." It was once categorised as a Public Ivy. This university is one of the founding institutions of the New England Knowledge Corridor, a regional economic and cultural cooperative agreement between Hartford, Connecticut, and Springfield, Massachusetts. The Connecticut Repertory Theatre (CRT), which is run by the Department of Dramatic Arts, is located on the campus in Storrs.
Huskies in the Big East Conference, have had great success. There have been 21 NCAA titles won by the Huskies. The UConn Huskies are the best women's basketball team in the country. They have won a record 11 NCAA Division I National Championships (tied with the UCLA Bruins men's basketball team), including a women's record four straight years (2013–2016). Both the men's and women's basketball programs at the university, known as the Huskies in the Big East Conference, have had great success.

When it comes to the University of Connecticut facilities; there is a lot that students can explore in and around the campus. The Libraries have the state's largest public research collection. The main library, the Homer D. Babbidge Library, is located on Fairfield Way in the heart of the campus. The first volumes were donated to the university library collection by Charles Storrs in 1882. (specifically, of the agriculture school). The university's primary library collections were previously housed in the Old Whitney building, one of the first agriculture school structures. In 1929, the library was relocated from Old Main to the basement of Beech Hall.
