About
Lewis University, founded in 1932, is a comprehensive Catholic university that focuses on liberal learning as well as career development. It provides more than 80 undergraduate programmes and 35 graduate degrees, as well as accelerated courses for working professionals. The De La Salle Christian Brothers support 60 universities around the world, including Lewis. The university encourages the development of the individual through the pursuit of wisdom and justice. The university is situated 35 miles south-southwest of Chicago. More than 1,200 students live in 12 residence halls on the picturesque 410-acre main campus of Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois. All of the residence halls are close to the school's library, Brother James Gaffney Student Center, Sancta Alberta Chapel, and JFK Recreation and Fitness Center. Lewis University’s acceptance rate is 66%. Students of all faiths and cultures are welcome at the university. Minorities account for approximately 40% of students on the campus. The university currently has over 6,000 students enrolled. Lewis University is a member of the Higher Learning Commission, and Association of Catholic Colleges and is NCCA Division II accredited in sports.
Lewis University is a vibrant, coeducational university that offers over 80 undergraduate majors and areas of study in addition to 37 graduate programmes. It offers a variety of popular courses, including ones in data sciences, business administration, computer science, health information management, nursing, and aviation and transportation. Lewis is delighted to be one of the few Illinois universities to receive recognition as the Military Support Colleges of Distinction for 2020–2021. Lewis University has maintained a steady position in the 2024 rankings across various publications. In the U.S. News & World Report's Best Colleges rankings, it was placed in the Regional Universities Midwest category at 27, holding its ground from the previous year. The Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education College Rankings listed Lewis at 601–800 nationally, a slight improvement from being ranked 601–800 in 2023. However, Lewis saw a small drop in the Forbes America's Top Colleges rankings, slipping from 487 in 2023 to 508 in 2024 among private and public universities. While its rankings have remained relatively consistent in recent years, the university will need to continue enhancing its academic programs, student outcomes, and overall value proposition to make strides in future ranking cycles.
