About

Oklahoma City University is a private university that offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate programmes in arts, sciences, business, education, law, nursing, and religion. Oklahoma City University was founded in 1904 as Epworth University by the Methodist Episcopal Church and the Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce. It changed its name to Oklahoma City College in 1924 and to Oklahoma City University in 1951.

 

It is located in the Uptown district of Oklahoma City, near the state capitol and downtown. It has a total enrollment of about 3,000 students, of which about 2,000 are undergraduates and about 1,000 are graduate students. It has a diverse student body, with students from 46 states and 43 countries. It also has a strong international presence, with partnerships and exchange programmes with universities in China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Mexico, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, and England. 

 

Oklahoma City University courses are divided into five academic divisions:

Oklahoma City University also has two professional schools: the School of Law and the School of Education. It offers more than 100 student organisations and clubs that cater to various interests and passions. Oklahoma City University's athletic teams compete in NCAA Division II as members of the Great American Conference (GAC). It sponsors 21 varsity sports for men and women: baseball; basketball; cross country; golf; rowing; soccer; softball; tennis; track & field; volleyball; wrestling (men); cheerleading (women); dance team (women); lacrosse (women); pom squad (women).
