Acceptance Rate

The University of South Alabama acceptance rate is 65% for 2024. It is among the top 26% of difficult universities to get into in the United States. The admission committee makes sure that each application is very well scrutinised before the accepted students get their offer letters. 

Last year, the university accepted 65.36%, which is lower than its 77.77% average over the last 10 years. Its acceptance rate has decreased annually for the past five years, making admission slightly more competitive than the previous year. While the 2023 yield (enrolled students) of 19.68% fell below the 34.58% average, the number of applicants increased by 733 (6.20%) compared to the prior year.

Entry Requirements 

Whether you're a first-time applicant to the University of South Alabama, an undergraduate student seeking advanced status, or a returning student re-enrolling after a break, the admissions standards are the same for all applicants. Students wishing to be admitted to the university must make a mandatory application fee payment of 35 USD for undergraduates and 60 USD for graduates. International students need to have a minimum secondary school GPA requirement of 2.5. Each applicant must provide the following: 

• SAT Subject Tests (if applicable)
• Official transcripts from each college and high school attended (in English or with translations)
• 3 teacher recommendations
• Official test scores from TOEFL  (71) and  IELTS (5.5)— all tests must be taken within 2 years of your application date
• Post Graduate students are asked to attach their work experience proof along with the rest of the details
• A valid Passport
• LOR
