California State University - Northridge Rankings 2024-25

Cal State Northridge is ranked 15th among top performers in social mobility in the US News’ Best Regional Colleges West Rankings for 2023. Sierra Magazine placed the university 5th on Sustainable "Cool Schools," whereas The Wall Street Journal ranked the university 2nd on Most Diverse Learning Environment in the Country. It has also ranked 13 for best undergraduate teaching in the US News’ Best Regional Colleges West Rankings for 2022, 18 for top public schools, and 19 for top performers in social mobility. CSUN was placed 45th in the country by Money Magazine out of the almost 750 institutions it considered for their ranking of the Best Schools for 2020 - 2021. The university was ranked 29th overall among public colleges in the country.

CSUN has one of the top film schools in the United States and the rest of the world. The same distinction belongs to its music school. Out of 215 colleges in the western United States, CSUN was placed sixth by Washington Monthly in terms of "Best Bang for the Buck" in 2020. Forbes ranked CSUN as 92nd out of the 300 universities featured as the best value college in the country for 2019. In accordance with the 2020 Social Mobility Index college rankings, CSUN was placed fourth in the country. CSUN was ranked 3rd in the nation and 1st in California in the amount of bachelor's degrees issued to Hispanics. In terms of the proportion of Latinos who received master's degrees, CSUN was placed 10th nationally and fourth in California.
