Fondly referred to as ‘The Beach’, California State University Long Beach is a public university that was founded in 1947. Its 175-acre campus is set in a somewhat metropolitan area. It is one of California's largest public institutions, with about 20,000 undergraduate students. The academic calendar at CSU is based on a quarterly system. It is the nation's biggest comprehensive higher education system, with 23 distinct campuses serving over 437,000 students and 44,000 employees across the state. The institution confers about 100,000 bachelor's, master's, and doctorate degrees each year.
