Overview
About
The University of Chester is a public university located in Chester, England. The university was specifically established as the UK's first institution designed for training teachers. It currently has five campuses in Chester and it belongs to the North West Universities Association, Universities UK, Association of Commonwealth Universities, Cathedrals Group, and AACSB. It has also received a Silver Award from the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF). The University of Chester is the fifth-oldest higher education institution in England after The University of Oxford, the University of Cambridge, the University of Durham, and the University of London.
Education requirements are still important, even though there are currently 420-course options available. The school steadily increased the variety and nature of its courses, which span from animation to zoo management. A new selection of foundation degrees and apprenticeship degrees, in addition to undergraduate and graduate degrees, combines traditional university study with learning while working.
Having gained the authority to grant its own research degrees in 2007, the University's MPhil and PhD diplomas are an expanding field of activity. The university offers consultant support across a range of areas of expertise, with a strong focus on research that has immediate practical advantages in both the economic and cultural spheres.
The university's efforts and relationships with business, industry, and the professions have been strengthened by the creation of well-respected courses in health and social care, business and management, the arts, humanities, and social sciences, science and engineering, medicine and life sciences, and education and children's services. Millions of pounds are consistently spent on resources and housing to improve the student experience, and a big emphasis is placed on helping students feel comfortable and supported.

Facilities
Chester Students' Union (CSU) is a part of the NUS and operates the University of Chester facilities and services that are provided to students. Each year, four sabbatical officials are chosen to serve terms of up to two years. The Union's trustees are members of the Executive Committee. Each year, members are chosen before the end of March. There is a president and vice-president as well as representatives for Warrington, Education, and Activities, among other categories. A combination of full-time employees, part-time student employees, and volunteers from the elected Executive Committee and the Union Council make up the Union's support personnel.
On Chester's main Parkgate Road Campus, the Union manages the pub CH1. The university took control of the former "Padgate Union Bar" on the Warrington campus in August 2010; it is currently called "Bar and Club 2010." The Union has three stores as well. Two are in Chester on the Parkgate Road Campus, one is in Warrington, and both have a general store and a Starbucks Coffee franchise.
The Union also oversees more than 110 sports clubs and organisations, including teams at each campus that participate in British Universities and Colleges’ Sports events frequently. Every year, the Union hosts Varsity, an inter-campus competition where teams from both sporting and non-sporting organisations, like poker and seven-a-side football, participate. The Politics Forum, the Drama Society, the Amnesty International Society, the International Development Society, and the People and Planet Society are a few examples of non-sporting organisations. The Debating Society has also hosted hustings events that have been covered on "BBC North West Tonight." The Cat Radio is a student-run radio station that broadcasts every day from its base on the Warrington campus from September to July.

Placements
Students are given academic tools from the university that aid in helping them identify prospects for their future professional lives. The university's work-based learning programme gives students the chance to get experience in host organisations while receiving a five-week working allowance to help them be ready for their future careers. In their second year of study, almost all the undergraduate students complete a work-based learning module. This entails working for five weeks (May - June) in a company of the students’ choice, anywhere in the globe. Additionally, the Careers Team can look for a suitable placement for a student. Each student will have to prepare a reflective report that focuses on their skill improvement in addition to the project outputs or job assignments finished during their University of Chester placement.
Experiential and Work-Based Learning
With the help of our ground-breaking Wor-Based Learning (WBL) programme, students can spend five weeks working for a host organisation as preparation for the workforce.
Sandwich Courses
At the conclusion of a student’s second year in a sandwich programme, they will have the option to do a year-long paid professional placement. By putting what they have learned in a professional environment, this placement will aid in the development of their skills and knowledge.
Vocational Training
Students will be required to complete numerous placements over the course of their chosen vocational course, such as those in midwifery, nursing, social work, and teacher education. This is a crucial component of their education that will make sure they are completely ready for their career choice.
