About

Founded in 1865, the Cardiff Metropolitan University (also known as Cardiff Met Uni) is a public institution of higher learning. This university was formerly known as the University of Wales Institute Cardiff (UWIC). It provides instruction in a variety of fields, including business, economics, arts, fashion, communications and law. Four institutes of this university amalgamated in 1976 to establish the Cardiff Institute of Higher Education. Furthermore, it got its current name once its association with the University of Wales expired in 2011. This university has collaborated with numerous international institutions to foster a global identity. The Arab Academy of Science and Technology, Beacon International College and City Unity College are among these institutions.

There are full-time, part-time and undergraduate and graduate study options available for students. The university is divided into five academic faculties -

  • Cardiff School of Art & Design
  • Cardiff School of Education
  • Cardiff School of Management
  • Cardiff School of Sport and Health Sciences
  • Cardiff School of Technologies

The two campuses of Cardiff Met University are located in Llandaff and the other in Cyncoed. The School of Management, School of Technologies, School of Art & Design and School of Sport & Health Sciences are all located in Llandaff. The campus is flanked by a large number of parks, playing fields and the old village of Llandaff. The School of Sport & Health Sciences and the School of Education & Social Policy are both located on the Cyncoed Campus. It provides housing on-site and a brand-new Campus Center that is specially designed for students. The campus has top-notch athletic facilities, a shop, coffee shops and a refectory. The Students' and Athletics Union also has its headquarters on campus. In order to give students access to information in one place, the Student I-Zone opened its doors in October 2010.
