Program Overview

Speech and language therapists work with people of all ages with speech, language and communication difficulties, and swallowing disorders. Our Speech and Language Therapy degree offers you the opportunity to join this exciting profession and gain a Health and Care Professions Council approved qualification as a speech and language therapist.

Entry Requirement
- Tariff points: 104 - 112
- GCSE: Five GCSEs at Grade C / 4 or above to include English Language / Welsh First Language, Mathematics / Mathematics – Numeracy.
- A level subjects: Three A levels to include grade B. No specific subjects required. Welsh Baccalaureate – Advanced Skills Challenge Certificate considered as a third subject.
- Access to Higher Education Diploma: 15 Level 3 credits at Distinction and 30 Level 3 credits at Merit. No specific subjects required.
- International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma: Higher level Grade 6. No specific subjects required.

Career Prospect
Opportunities exist for speech and language therapists in hospitals, health centres, schools and specialist units. Graduates may also choose to progress to postgraduate study and/or research in the department. Some clinicians are employed by charitable organisations or undertake private practice.
