Aberystwyth University is a Welsh-speaking public research university located in Aberystwyth, Wales. The university is often known as Prifysgol Aberystwyth by locals or AU as its abbreviation suggests. When the University of Wales was a federal institution, Aberystwyth was one of its founding members. It was established in 1872 as University College Wales-Aberystwyth and changed its name to University College of Wales, Aberystwyth in 1894 after becoming a founding member of the University of Wales. The institution once more changed its name in the middle of the 1990s to become the University of Wales, Aberystwyth. The University of Wales ceased to be a federal university on September 1, 2007, and the university once more gained independence with its current title.

AU’s outstanding student satisfaction rates are a result of recent expenditures totalling more than £100 million in strengthening and expanding their existing first-rate residential and instructional Aberystwyth University facilities, as well as the calibre of the education they provide. All of the university's lecture halls and classrooms have undergone renovations and improvements, and all classes now have the option of being recorded for review and learning consolidation. The university is dedicated to providing its students with top-notch teaching and learning facilities and the tools they need to thrive in life through targeted investment.
With the majority of the houses being only a short walk from campus, AU provides a variety of alternatives and locations to help students choose the place that works for them. The university has spent more than $50 million upgrading its facilities to better serve both undergraduate and graduate students. Fferm Penglais offers some of the greatest student housing in the UK with breathtaking views of the Cardigan Bay shoreline and is situated in a beautifully planted environment. The university warmly welcomes new and returning students to the classic Pantycelyn Hall of Residence, which was recently renovated and dates back to the 1950s, in September 2020. Pantycelyn is recognized nationally for its contribution to Welsh culture and society since it was established as lodging for Welsh speakers and learners in 1973.
The vibrant Students' Union, which hosts more than 100 clubs and organisations, further enhances student life. On campus, they have a sports centre with a track for running, a 3G soccer field, a pool, a gym, a climbing wall, a spin studio, and wellness and fitness classes. One of the largest in the UK is their on-site arts centre includes theatre, exhibition, and performance rooms in addition to a boutique theatre, bar, and cafés.

Aberystwyth University Placements
Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) research from 2018 found that 96.8% of graduates were either employed or enrolled in more education six months after receiving their degrees from the university in 2017. 97% of Business School and School of Art graduates were employed, self-employed, or enrolled in further education within six months, which is 3% higher than the national average for Business and Administrative Studies and Creative Arts and Design graduates. The program curriculum includes internships to give students the opportunity to get work experience in a business related to their area of study.
