Master of Clinical Research

Students enrolled in the Master of Clinical Research will:

• Learn the fundamental concepts required to undertake research in a clinical setting
• Plan and implement a clinical research program
• Translate their research into clinical practice
• Develop critical research networks and opportunities.

 

Your thesis
Your final year will be dedicated to conducting an independent clinical research project and thesis, allowing you to focus on an area of interest with the support and supervision of some of the best researchers from around the world.

On completion of the Graduate Certificate (the first year of this course) you will also be accredited with a Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certification. The GCP is an internationally accepted standard for the designing, conducting, recording and reporting of clinical trials and mandated within many health organisations for principal investigators on clinical trials.

 

Course structure
To gain the Master of Clinical Research, you must complete six core subjects, two elective subjects, and a Clinical Research Thesis. The course is to be completed over one and a half years full-time. You can also choose to study part-time, depending on your commitments and goals.

In order to be considered for entry, applicants must have completed:

• an undergraduate degree in any discipline with a weighted average mark of at least H3 (65%), or equivalent; and
• a portfolio of recent design work, submitted in accordance with the requirements of the Selection Committee; and
• a personal statement which outlines relevant prior study, work experience and motivation to undertake the course; and, for students not seeking credit;
• a 250-word essay on one designed or vernacular work of landscape architecture that the applicant has seen and found significant.
• Meeting these requirements does not guarantee selection.

 

In ranking applications, the Selection Committee will consider:

• prior academic performance; and
• the personal statement; and
• the design portfolio.

Graduates of the Masters will have:

• A comprehensive foundation in the methodologies of clinical research
• A comprehensive understanding of clinical research and issues associated with good clinical practice, ethics and regulations, as well as analytical and project and team management techniques
• High level analytic and problem-solving skills using techniques acquired during the course and independent critical thinking in your field of relevant clinical speciality
• The ability to apply theoretical knowledge in the independent design and implementation of a significant research project
• The ability to write scholarly papers and present their research findings, such as a specialist conference or seminar.
