Journalism Scholarships for International Students

Journalism is the practice of reporting on occurrences and current events that are relevant to a certain audience. Studying journalism in a foreign country will offer you a better understanding of how it differs from country to country and how different media are used.

You may study the evolution of broadcast, print, and internet journalism, as well as their future prospects. Journalism may be studied everywhere in the globe, however, the media regulations of the nation may have an impact on how the degree is taught and the essence of the programme. The most popular countries to study journalism in are the USA, the UK, Spain, Fiji, Australia, and Canada. These countries also provide several Journalism and New Media scholarships to students from all over the world.

In the US liberal arts paradigm, you would study journalism as a major or minor as part of your Bachelor's degree. You will need to spend a certain quantity of credits on journalism-related subjects to achieve this. Journalism can be studied as a stand-alone discipline at the Master's level. While choosing to study Journalism in the USA, you must take a close look at the place when searching. Getting experience and building contacts with news outlets and journalists in the industry while still in school is a huge credit point, especially for overseas students who want to work in the United States after graduation. The USA offers many Journalism scholarships for college students with courses specialising in history, literature, science, philosophy, religion, art, etc.

In the United Kingdom, however, journalism may be studied as a standalone degree at all levels of study. It is crucial to think about the practical experience that a university may provide, such as journalism internships, placements, or job experience, while selecting where to study journalism. Another factor to consider is access to university resources such as radio studios and shooting equipment. The most popular universities to study Journalism in the UK are the University of Strathclyde, Coventry University, University of Sheffield, University of Central Lancashire, and the University of Stirling. These universities are also popular for their Journalism and Mass Communication scholarships offered to international students

Journalism degrees generally include practical lessons utilising a combination of broadcast equipment and writing, depending on your curriculum. There will be lectures, seminars, tutorials, and time for individual study. Depending on the nation and university where you are studying, the organisation and content of a journalism degree will be extremely varied.

The following are some of the modules and electives in which you may study journalism:

  • Media law
  • Journalism and society
  • Storytelling
  • Journalism and ethics
  • Broadcast journalism
  • Journalism and photography

In addition to these modules, the most common modules also include reporting, editing, writing, journalism history, laws, and ethics.
