University of Oregon (UO, U of O or Oregon) is a public research university in Eugene, Oregon. Founded in 1876. The university has a strong student population of 22,298 students entering with an average GPA of 3.73. The university is known to have 32% freshmen who are ethnic and of color.

The University of Oregon was established as the state's only land-grant institution and had just one building in its first years, now known as Deady Hall. It began operations with 155 students and five faculty members.

The main campus of the University of Oregon, which is relatively close to West University, has over 80 academic, administrative, and residential buildings. The Erb Memorial Union is the heart of the single campus, a place to study, eat and socialize.
