Overview

About

The University of Kansas (KU) is a public research university with its main campus located in Lawrence, Kansas, and other satellite campuses, research and educational institutes, medical centres, and classrooms spread out around the state of Kansas. With 28,000 students and 2,600 staff members across five campuses, it is a significant public research and teaching institution (Lawrence, Kansas City, Overland Park, Wichita, and Salina). The goal of its several components—to develop leaders, create thriving communities, and make ground-breaking discoveries—binds them together.

The KU School of Business launched multidisciplinary graduate programs in operations research during the 1965–1966 academic year. The initiative allowed for applications in decision science that helped NASA Project Apollo Command Capsule Recovery Operations. The academic computing division at the uni, which was instrumental in the growth of the Internet, produced the original Lynx text-based web browser. Before Tim Berners-Lee developed HTTP and HTML, Lynx allowed hypertext navigation and browsing.

Five campuses make up the sizable state-sponsored university known as the University of Kansas. The Association of American Universities (AAU) classifies KU as one of its "R1: Doctoral Universities—Very High Research Activity" members. At KU, there are schools of architecture, business, design & planning, engineering, education, health professions, journalism & mass communications, medicine, law, music, pharmacy, nursing, and social welfare, as well as the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, which houses the School of the Arts and the School of Public Affairs & Administration. The university provides more than 345 degree-granting options.

Facilities

The Centre For Teaching Excellence (CTE) recognises that there will be times when you must provide support and help to students in ways that are not purely educational. This assistance can come in many different forms, such as giving students financial aid for unexpected expenses or assistance with finding groceries, legal counsel, medical, and mental health services. All of these needs are covered by the various University Resources.

If you encounter students who require support and assistance with things other than their academics, the resources listed in the list below may be helpful. The university wishes to create a community of engaged and connected learners when they and the students as "whole" persons with needs and values that extend beyond those that are evident in the classroom. Check out the various University of Kansas facilities below.
