Program Overview

Graduate curricula provides advanced preparation for professional work as a teacher and/or performer. Students must successfully complete placement examinations in music theory and music history/literature (or the review courses MUS 500a, b) and a performance audition (if required for the student’s specialization). Certificate degrees are designed to appeal to teachers seeking additional professional training and career opportunities. Many students choose to pursue a certificate alongside an MM, with certain courses counting toward both degrees

Students recently admitted to the MS MIS program have had, on average, a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.2 (A=4.0), and GMAT scores of approximately 520 (with verbal scores over 20, quantitative scores over 25, and analytical writing of 4 or higher) or GRE scores of approximately 310 (with verbal scores over 150, quantitative scores over 154, and analytical writing of 4 or higher).
