In the 2023 U.S. News and World Report Best Colleges rankings, San José State University's capacity for transformation is amply demonstrated. Additionally, SJSU was just included in the rankings for Forbes America's Top Colleges and the Washington Monthly College Guide & Rankings for 2022. San José State was placed 20th among California colleges on the Forbes list and 53rd among master's institutions in the Washington Monthly rankings.

SJSU moved up three spots to position #4 in the West Regional Top Public Schools rankings. The West area of U.S. News and World Report consists of fifteen states. Three additional categories saw San Jose State University ranking place among the top three public universities in the West:

• #3 in Best Value
• #3 in Best Colleges for Veterans

Course Rankings

On the list for the Best Undergraduate Engineering Program - Non-Doctorate, the Charles W. Davidson College of Engineering ranked third among public universities and fifteenth overall, maintaining its position as one of the best programmes in the nation.
