This major emphasizes the scientific fundamentals of earth science, an expansive field that includes the planet’s chemical and physical evolution, the source of tsunamis, earthquakes, and volcanic eruptions, the genesis of the ocean and atmosphere, and the impact of human societies. Our program will provide you with a unique, interdisciplinary exploration, rooted in quantitative and experimental research. You’ll hone your ability to reason through unfamiliar problems, the tools to investigate topics in-depth, and the communication skills needed to share information with others. You can gain firsthand research experience in Northern California’s wide variety of biomes, from estuaries to mountain peaks to scrub lands.
