About
Rutgers University–Camden is a branch of Rutgers University. It is a public research university with four campuses in New Jersey. Rutgers–Camden is located in Camden, New Jersey and happens to be the southernmost of the three regional campuses, along with New Brunswick and Newark. It was founded in 1929 as the South Jersey Law School and later merged with the College of South Jersey.
The university offers a wide range of academic programmes which include nearly 40 majors, 50 minors and special programmes. Students can also participate in the Honors College, engage in research with faculty mentors, study abroad, complete internships, participate in civic learning and pursue graduate and advanced professional programmes. The academic year follows a 4-4 schedule with two four-course semesters in the fall and spring. During the three-week winter study term in January, students can take courses outside of the typical curriculum such as internships or intensive research projects.
The College of Arts and Sciences at Rutgers–Camden is the university's largest academic unit which provides students personalised liberal arts education. The College includes a wide range of majors and programmes in humanities, arts, social sciences and natural and physical sciences which include both traditional liberal arts disciplines and professionally oriented courses. Moreover, it hosts an exclusive Honors College, renowned for its demanding academic curriculum, featuring seminars, junior and senior year projects and extracurricular activities.
The Graduate School provides 14 master's degree programmes across various liberal arts fields such as history, English literature, languages and creative writing, alongside advanced degrees in sciences, nursing, psychology, social work, political science and public policy. It also offers doctoral programmes in Childhood Studies, Computational Biology and Public Affairs. Additionally, the Rutgers School of Business-Camden offers an MBA programme.
