Facilities

The university's campus is located on a 52-acre park-like setting in the Columbus suburb of Bexley, Ohio, just a few miles from downtown Columbus. The campus features modern facilities, including a state-of-the-art learning commons, a performing arts centre, a student centre, and a variety of student housing options, dining facilities, and recreational activities.

 

Residential facilities - Capital University has a residential campus that runs on a semester system. The majority of students reside in one of seven residence halls on campus which are Saylor-Ackermann Hall, Cotterman Hall, the Lohman Complex (which includes many residence halls), Schaaf Hall, Capital Commons, College Avenue Hall, and the Capital University Apartments. 

 

Library - The Blackmore Library is a four-story building. Computers are available to be utilized on the first three floors only. The third floor houses several publications and most of the university's historical data. The Schumacher Gallery, which contains a substantial art collection on campus, is located on the fourth level. The second story houses a significant music collection, including a vinyl section. The library was built in 1969 and inaugurated in March 1971. It today houses over 300,000 media publications.

 

Schumacher Gallery - The gallery has a 502-piece Schreiber-Fox Collection of African Art. Schreiber and Fox gave their African art collection to Capital University. The permanent holdings of the Schumacher Gallery include over 2500 pieces of art for education and enjoyment. Visitors and prospective students are drawn to a section of the Berlin Wall which is in the gallery. 

 

Harry C. Moores Student Union - The student union underwent a massive redevelopment in the year 2013 and now houses Capital's Barnes & Noble bookstore on the first floor, the Capital Court which is the main dining room. There is also a workout facility that opened in 2017. 

 

Media Centre - The Convergent Media Centre is intended to foster interdisciplinary collaboration. The basement level houses a professional recording studio as well as digital art and design labs. On the first level, there is a television and radio studio that provides training for video production. Students will also find radio, television, cinema, visual, technical, and performing arts facilities here. The first floor also includes the student radio station called WXCU, as well as CapTV's studios.
