Binghamton University (also known as Binghamton or SUNY Binghamton) is a public research university in Binghampton, New York, United States. It has campuses spread out in Binghamton, Vestal, and Johnson City. The university is one of the State University of New York (SUNY) system's four academic hubs. SUNY Binghamton has grown from a tiny liberal arts college to a sizable research university since its founding in 1946. It is listed as belonging to the category "R1: Doctoral Universities - Very High Research Activity." In 1965, Harpur College was chosen as one of the four new SUNY university centres, joining New York state institutions at Stony Brook University, Albany, and Buffalo. The school was renamed the State University of New York at Binghamton, reflecting its role as a higher education institution. Its undergraduate college of arts and sciences was kept as "Harpur College" as a tribute to heritage.

University Art Museum: The Fine Arts Building is home to the university's art collection, which is spread out over several spaces. The main-level gallery of the building displays student work on a rotating basis along with a variety of items from the Permanent Collection.
University Union: The University Union is split into two portions, which are commonly referred to as the old Union and the new Union, and occasionally as Union East and West, respectively.
