Program Overview

Gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) on completion of the programme.
Our primary initial teacher education courses are judged by Ofsted as ‘outstanding’ - the highest grade attainable in an Ofsted inspection.
Students will be taught in lectures by experienced, expert practitioners in the field of education.
There are many educational enrichment opportunities available for students to get involved with e.g. the certification of SAK4A (Sainsbury’s Active Kids for All).
Students will have the opportunity to undertake a work placement as part of their studies, allowing them to spend time in a particular educational setting of their choice and explore their own particular interests.

Course Content
MODULES
- From Values to Vocation (Level 7) seeks to develop trainees as confident, emergent teachers who are aware of the positive contribution they can make to their vocational career. It aims to develop these same traits in their professional practice, and in doing so enables them to become successful learners, confident individuals and responsible citizens in their own classrooms.
- The Emergent Teacher as Reflective Practitioner (Level 7) aims to develop trainees as critical practitioners who can reflect upon their classroom practice with direct reference to their school experiences, as they progress towards QTS.
- Professional Studies unites university work with time spent in school, developing links between theory and practice. The module focuses on the ways children develop and learn effectively. It considers the roles and responsibilities of a teacher, key learning theories and ideas from some of the major educational thinkers. You will explore the cycle of planning, teaching and evaluating, and the importance of creating a stimulating and safe learning environment for the children in your care.

Entry Requirement
Three year degree from a recognised Indian University with 60% or above.
