About

Wrexham Glyndwr University, founded in 1887 was previously known as Glyndwr University. Nestled in North East Wales and close to the border with England, Wrexham is perfectly situated to provide all that you need for an amazing time! It is named after a Welsh scholar and hero named Owain Glyndwr. Wrexham Glyndwr University is proud to be named after the man who cherished learning and loved his country, embraced an international outlook and constantly demonstrated an inspiring and enterprising approach to life.

 

In 2016, it was renamed to its current name and in 2008, it was granted university status. In 2004, the university became a part of the University of Wales. The number of students has grown rapidly over the years. Due to an increase in enrolment, the university's management committee decided to expand its campus area and build more faculty buildings. The Board of Governors governs and manages the university. Students can broaden their horizons, develop skills and increase their knowledge and potential in the subjects they are interested in. Students embark on a career change if they are about to start their career or are returning to education to develop skills in their existing role. 

 

The university has a total enrolment of approximately 6,415 students in the academic year 2017. Undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes are available at the university. Students are taught by qualified faculty members. The university's academic curriculum includes a variety of courses divided into several departments. Engineering, Humanities, Art & Design, Nursing, Social Work, Science, Computing, Communication Technology, Criminology & Criminal Justice, Sports Sciences, Health & Social Care, Music Technology, and Business are among the courses available. Student Village Hall, Snowdon Hall, and Wrexham Village Hall are the three main halls on the university campus. The campus provides all of the necessary facilities for students.
