Program Overview

Our BSc Management with Placement Year course will equip you with the skills, knowledge and confidence to operate effectively in roles within international brands, multinational companies, global financial markets and new business ventures. You will undertake a work placement during your third year, giving you the opportunity to apply your skills and knowledge in a real work setting before returning to Warwick for your final year of studies. Alternatively, you can apply to study with a partner institution instead of working.

As well as enhancing your career potential, the course will enable you to develop as a critically reflective thinker, able to analyse and interpret business-related problems and to devise creative and enterprising solutions that straddle multi-disciplinary boundaries. You’ll benefit from studying with students from a range of different countries, in a mutually-supportive, collaborative learning environment.

As the course progresses, you can choose modules to tailor your experience to meet your interests, development needs and career aspirations. This means you can follow a generalist route in business and management to keep your career options open or you can choose to study one of our recognised pathways to build your knowledge within a particular subject area. Upon graduation, your recognised pathway will be added to your transcript adding real value to your CV when starting your career.

Undergraduate Partnership Programme

In collaboration with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), we participate in the Undergraduate Partnership Programme (UPP) which enables students to gain professional work experience during a placement year. This involves working in an accounting role with an ICAEW member organisation during the third year of your course. Depending on the organisation and the work experience, the placement may contribute to the first year of the ACA qualification and you may also be able to take professional ACA exams. You can work in the UK or overseas, before returning to WBS for the final year of the course. The UPP placement year contributes to the overall degree classification.

Course Content
Core modules
Our BSc Management with Placement Year course is extremely flexible. You can choose modules in your second and final year to study one of our course pathways in Digital Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Finance, or Marketing which will be reflected on your transcript upon graduation.

Year One
In Terms One and Two you will study seven core modules introducing you to a range of business focused topics. Examinations for Term One modules will take place in January before Term Two classes begin. You will then choose between: Business Analytics (required for the Finance pathway), Digital Ventures, Management of Global Risks, or a language for your eighth module studied in Term Two. In Term Three you will revise and take exams for your remaining modules.

Entry Requirement

All applicants, regardless of their visa requirements, are required to show that their ability to understand and express themselves in both written and spoken English is sufficiently high for them to derive full benefit from their degree course. The level of competence required depends on what type of degree you wish to study. Many applicants can demonstrate this through a satisfactory level of achievement in, for example, GCSE English Language or the English courses within the International Baccalaureate.

Applicants whose academic qualifications meet the University’s admissions requirements, but whose English language qualifications are not accepted as equivalent, may be offered a place at Warwick conditional on an acceptable English language qualification being achieved before they join the University. A number of English language tests are accepted; some of the most frequently offered ones are detailed below.

Please note that certain English tests (including IELTS and PTE) must be taken within two years and one month prior to the start of your course at Warwick. Applicants whose tests fall outside this timescale will need to retake a suitable English language test.

Applicants who require a visa to study in the UK may, depending on the circumstances, be asked to provide evidence of a secure English language test (e.g. IELTS for UKVI (Academic)), rather than an examination (such as International Baccalaureate English) due to the visa requirements set by the UK government.

Fees & Scholarships
If you are an overseas or EU student enrolling in 2022, your annual tuition fees will be as follows:
- Band 1 – £22,280 per year (classroom-based courses, including Humanities and most Social Science courses)
- Band 2 – £28,410 per year (laboratory-based courses, plus Theatre and Performance Studies, Economics, and courses provided by Warwick Business School, with exceptions)
