The Certificate in Higher Education in the  Policing Profession is a level 4 qualification introducing the core concepts of policing. It has been designed as a building block for students wanting to pursue a career in policing.On successful completion of the course, students can continue onto the BSc Professional Policing (sometimes referred to as the ‘pre-join’ degree) which provides one of the entry routes into policing. This is a core element of the Policing Education Qualifications Framework (PEQF), and is a professional academic knowledge-based degree structured on the national curriculum for the police constable role.
 

The Certificate in Higher Education in the  Policing Profession enables entrants to gain the academic theory and knowledge of professional policing. The programme is one year in duration and on successful completion, students can progress to the BSc (Hons) Professional Policing Degree.The completion of the CertHE or the degree course does not automatically guarantee entrance to the police service, however on the successful completion of the police selection process graduates will be subject to a two-year probationary period with the chosen police service. The degree has a currency of 5 years following graduation for recruitment into policing
