Program Overview

The design, use and disposal of ordnance, munitions, and explosives (OME) is vital to national defence interests and global treaty obligations. This underpins the requirement for expertise in explosives, their engineering, and their responsible regulation. A BEng in OME will provide you with an understanding of weapon systems from initial concept, design and manufacture, to their considerations of use in operational service, and final disposal at end of useful life.

This course allows you to take several modules to suit your career path, such as systems engineering, explosion chemistry, explosion physics, principles of OME design, through to testing, evaluation, and breakdown. It becomes a critical qualification for those considering careers in civilian and non-civilian roles which use, handle or engineer explosives. This course is formally accredited by the Institute of Explosive Engineers (IExpE), allowing graduates to pursue professional chartered status.
