Overview

About

The University of Salford (also known as USAL or Salford) is a public research institution located one mile west of Manchester in Salford, Greater Manchester. The Royal Technical Institute in Salford, which began in 1896, changed its name to the College of Advanced Technology in 1956. Later on, after the Robbins Report on higher education, it was given university status in 1967. It is situated on 160 acres of parkland on the banks of the River Irwell. In order to collaborate on the Gamma Programme, which intends to produce "autonomous systems," Salford established a cooperation with the largest arms firm in the UK (BAE Systems) and four other institutions in northwest England (Liverpool, Manchester, UCLAN, and Lancaster) in 2012. On the 5th of September in 2016, Salford competed in University Challenge for the third time against the Open University.

Since 1972, there has been a yearly boat race called the Two Cities Boat Race. The event has become a staple in Salford and Manchester's social and sporting calendars for students. The amount of effort put out by volunteers from both colleges to assist with event setup, stewarding, and programme sales, as well as to raise money for numerous organisations, makes the event noteworthy. The money collected is given to SPARKS, a nonprofit organisation that funds paediatric medical research.

The university alumni have around 1,75,00 members from all around the world that engage in a variety of industries and professions. Some notable individuals include Robert Powell (English Actor), Peter Kay (English Comedian), Anwar Choudhury (Pakistani-Born British Diplomat), Alok Sharma (British Politician and British Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and former Minister of State for Employment), and many more.

Most international students are obligated to show proof of sufficient funds in order to obtain a visa. While some students may have the opportunity to make use of scholarships, not all students cut the eligibility to get a scholarship or a grant. Moreover, not all scholarships cover 100% of your study abroad expenses. At such times, most students resort to acquiring education loans to avoid the financial hassles associated with studying at the University of Salford. For Indian students, UniCreds is the ideal education loan marketplace if you’re looking for low-interest rates and free consultation services!
