Program Overview

We’ll equip you with the research skills necessary to progress to a doctoral research degree, or to embark upon a career as a political researcher
You’ll receive training in social science, as well as more specific research training in politics (including any chosen political specialism) and international relations
Forms part of the ESRC South West Doctoral Training Partnership and funding may be available for UK/EU students embarking on the programme and wishing to work towards a PhD

Program structure

Specialist training pathway modules (30 credits)

In addition to the core modules you will take one module of 30 credits, selected in consultation with the Postgraduate Coordinator in Politics. Your choice of module depends on your anticipated research area (developed in the MRes Dissertation with a view to progression to the +3 thesis).

For direct entry onto our Masters programmes you will be required to hold a relevant Bachelors degree with a grade equivalent to a UK Second-class honours (2:1 or 2:2).
