Course Content
The MA Classics and Ancient History programme is a one year full-time programme of study at National Qualification Framework level 7. The programme can also be studied part time. The programme is further divided into units of study called ‘modules’ which are assigned a number of ‘credits’. The credit rating of a module is proportional to the total workload, with 1 credit being nominally equivalent to 10 hours of work.

Our flexible programme enables you to choose either a specific pathway OR a selection of modules, which may be decided after your date of entry to the MA in Classics and Ancient History.

Modules:
- 90 credits of compulsory modules and 90 credits of optional modules.
- a If you are beginning a classical language, you should take 30-60 credits from CLAM201, CLAM251, CLAM075 or CLAM034.
- b If you have a classical language at beginners' level, you should take 30 credits from either CLAM252 or CLAM202.
- c If you have a classical language at intermediate level, you should take 30 credits from CLAM254, CLAM255 or CLAM204, or CLAM205 .
- d If you have a classical language at Degree level, you should take 15-30 credits from CLAM257, CLAM012A, or CLAM082.

Entry Requirement
For direct entry onto our Masters programmes you will be required to hold a relevant Bachelors degree with a grade equivalent to a UK Second-class honours (2:1 or 2:2).
