MA Creativity: Innovation and Business Strategy

The programme is divided into units of study called modules which are assigned a number of 'credits'. The credit rating of a module is proportional to the total workload, with 1 credit being nominally equivalent to 10 hours of work.
 

The modules we outline here provide examples of what you can expect to learn on this degree course based on recent academic teaching. The precise modules available to you in future years may vary depending on staff availability and research interests, new topics of study, timetabling and student demand.
 

Curriculum highlights
 

• Workshops and intensives with industry experts such as Ben James (Berlin Film Festival and Jotta creative agency), James Woollam (MD at David & Charles Publishing, Exeter), Sophie Rochester (CEO at Yodomo, London), Shuvashish Roy (Head of Business at the Daily Star, Bangladesh) and many more.
• Course membership of the Creative Industries Federation, the national organisation for all the UK's creative industries, cultural education and arts.
• Opportunities to work with organisations such as MAKETANK, a creative studio space in the heart of Exeter, The Literary Platform, a digital publishing agency, and Exeter Phoenix, a vibrant arts venue in the heart of Exeter.
• Opportunities to gain industry experience through immersive business projects and/or internships (in line with government guidance).

• Cultural field trips to creative industries hubs (in line with government guidance).
• Immersion in interdisciplinary and sustainably-focused creative practices such as storytelling, filmmaking, improvisation, gaming, branding, art installation and creative writing.
• Opportunities for students to strengthen their business strategy and entrepreneurial insights through optional modules in the Business School in term 2.
• Senior industry mentors are assigned to work with our students on their dissertation projects.

Normally a minimum 2:1 Honours degree, or international equivalent, in a subject that includes some coverage of Film Studies, Drama, Business Studies, Media and Communication or other creative disciplines.

  Overall score 6.5. No less than 6.0 in any section.
   

• TOEFL

  Overall score 90 with minimum scores of 21 for writing, 21 for listening, 22 for reading and 23 for speaking.

UK fees per year:
£14,500 full-time; £7,250 part-time
 

International fees per year:
£23,500 full-time; £11,750 part-time
