On a flexible course of 12-36 months, you'll explore how IT supports business, and how business can improve through IT. With a mixture of practical and theoretical studies, you'll gain advanced knowledge and solid grounding for your future career; the course doesn't teach either pure computer science, business or theory - each module focusses on the real-world applicability of its teaching.

  Applied learning is the ethos at the heart of all Sheffield Hallam courses, meaning that you are given the opportunity to put your study into practice.

When selecting electives, your choices will be subject to the core requirements of the course. Normally you need
 

• a good honours degree which includes significant aspects of IT, typically 2.2 or above, from a UK university or equivalent from overseas university
 

We will also consider applicants do not meet these academic criteria but who have several years' experience in expert, managerial or senior IT roles. You may also be able to claim credit points which can reduce the amount of time it takes to complete your qualification at Sheffield Hallam. Find out more
 

Overseas applicants from countries whose first language is not English must normally produce evidence of competence in English. An IELTS score of 6.0 with 5.5 in all skills (or equivalent) is the standard for non-native speakers of English. If your English language skill is currently below an IELTS score of 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in all skills we recommend you consider a Sheffield Hallam University Pre-sessional English course which will enable you to achieve an equivalent English level.
 

Apply outside the UK

As part of your application, you’ll need to prove your identity. How you do this depends on where you’re from and what type of passport you have.
 

You’ll either:
 

• give your fingerprints and a photograph (biometric information) at a visa application centre

• use the ‘UK Immigration: ID Check’ app to scan your identity document - you’ll also create or sign into your UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) account
   

You’ll be told what you need to do when you apply.

Once you’ve started your application, you can save your form and complete it later.

After you apply
 

You’ll be contacted if your application is complex and will take longer, for example because:

• your supporting documents need to be verified

• you need to attend an interview

• of your personal circumstances (for example if you have a criminal conviction)
   

If you need to change something in your application after you’ve sent it contact UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI).

You can ask to withdraw your application by contacting UKVI. Your fee will only be refunded if UKVI has not started processing your application.
 

After you get a decision
 

If your application is successful, you’ll get either:

• a biometric residence permit - if you gave your biometric information at a visa application centre

• a digital immigration status which you can view and prove online - if you used the ‘UK Immigration: ID Check’ app

Our tuition fee for UK students starting full-time study in 2022/23 is £8,745 for the course. For part-time study the fee will be calculated pro-rata each year based on the number of credits studied.
