Program Overview

This four-year Linguistics with Spanish degree concentrates on developing your understanding of how we communicate, and the growth of language in the brain.

You'll explore linguistics in the context of English and Spanish. You'll focus on the structure, history and social aspects of English, Spanish, and language in general. You will build a foundation of skills and knowledge to pursue many career paths.

- Introduction to the Structure of Language 1: Syntax and Phonology
- Introduction to the Structure of Language 2: Morphology and Meaning
- Language Variation and Change: Dealing with Data
- Level B (HE Intermediate) Spanish
Entry Requirement
- ABB including Spanish. Candidates with AS level Spanish (minimum grade B) will also be considered. We welcome candidates with an A Level in Psychology, Sociology, Maths, or other Science.
- A minimum of 34 points with grade 5 in Spanish at Higher Level. Candidates who have some background in Maths and Science may be interested in the cognitive/brain science and quantitative elements of the course. Candidates who prefer Arts and Humanities subjects may be interested in the historical, sociological, and literary elements of the course.
