About

London Metropolitan University (often referred to as London Met or LMU) is a public research university in London, England. In order to construct the University of North London, which was originally known as the Polytechnic of North London, London Guildhall University and the City of London Polytechnic amalgamated in 2002. The university was founded in 1848 and since its founding, it has had a long and distinguished history in education. However, the Metropolitan Evening Classes for Young Men were founded in 1848, marking the beginning of its roots, which may be traced back to the nineteenth century.

 

LMU has locations in the London Borough of Islington and the City of London, as well as a museum, archives, and libraries. The TUC Library, the Irish Studies Collection, and the Frederick Parker Collection are examples of special collections. The institution formerly declined to take part in newspaper ranking tables on the grounds that the UK Government, not (commercial) newspapers, should evaluate universities. Aldgate and Holloway are two campuses that belong to LMU. The architecture, art, and design schools are located on the Aldgate Campus. Schools of computing and digital media, humanities, social sciences, social professions, business, and law are located on the Holloway campus.
