Year 1
Your first year introduces you to a wide range of essential skills and processes so you emerge with a rounded knowledge of what it takes to design a performance. You are constantly hands-on whether making models, costumes and props, painting sets or learning about lighting. Learning how design fits into the production process is an important part of this year. This is supported by working on LIPA shows in an assistant role and with an external director on a design project.

Year 3
Your final year supports you as you embark on your career as a professional designer. You realise two major practical projects, which could be in-house shows or a combination of in-house productions and shows with external companies. You could also develop a production where you can realise a dream idea or conduct research and development for a future venture. Again, you work with a professional director on a design project and you research a topic related to your interests. In preparation for meeting the industry, you create your professional portfolio.
