Year 1
Your first year begins with the fundamentals of musicianship, including improvisation and aural skills. You are encouraged to form, write and perform in your own bands to develop your professionalism, with regular opportunities to perform here. You receive weekly one-to-one tuition to improve your technique and you develop your understanding of composition, along with music production and programming skills. Theory is always linked back to your practical skills and creating your own music. You learn about business and self-management concepts to support your future career as an artist.

Year 2
This year, you continue with the key areas you focused on in Year 1, but develop your skills at a more advanced level through a range of classes and workshops. Your songwriting skills become more refined, putting your music creation abilities into practice against industry briefs. There is an increased commercial focus to your work this year and you build on your song demo production skills to meet higher standards. In preparation for your professional life, you create a career plan and an entrepreneurial project.

Year 3
In your final year, you are expected to be working to a professional standard, and you have increased autonomy for creating your own music and opportunities. You continue to hone your skills in performance and songwriting to an advanced level. The year concludes with a showcase performance as part of our music festival, 2ubeXtra, where you have the opportunity to demonstrate everything you have learned on the course and potentially share your work with an industry audience.
