Academic requirement – business-related undergraduate degree at First or 2:1 Honours level (or international equivalent)

To apply for MSc Economics & Strategy for Business you should have a First or Upper Second Class Honours undergraduate degree from a recognised university or the international equivalent in a discipline such as:

• Economics
• Business
• Finance

Your degree should include at least introductory courses in micro- and macro-economics, and knowledge of quantitative topics – in particular calculus, statistics and linear algebra

If the module titles on your degree transcripts do not make it clear that the course content included micro and macro-economics or quantitative topics, please include details of the syllabus when you submit your application. You should use the ‘Quantitative Experience Statement’ on the application form to list the most advanced quantitative courses that you have taken in your academic career to date and to provide brief examples of the relevant topics covered by the programme.

Whilst there are no specific ‘A’ Level criteria for admission to MSc Economics & Strategy for Business, you should be aware that some companies have very strict grade requirements for their graduate programmes. Therefore, we strongly recommend that when you are considering your career options, you research the entry requirements of any companies you are interested in working for.

GMAT

GMAT is not required for MSc Economics & Strategy for Business, but a well-balanced GMAT result with 650 or higher overall and a good result in the quantitative reasoning section will add weight to your application. GMAT is highly recommended for candidates from less quantitative degree backgrounds. The current class average from students who have taken GMAT is 710.

English language requirement

• IELTS (academic): A minimum score of 7.0 with minimum scores of 6.5 in all elements. The IELTS indicator test will be accepted for admissions to the 2021/22 academic year.
• TOEFL iBT: A minimum score of 100 overall with minimum scores of 22 in all elements. The ETS at Home test will be accepted for admission to the 2021/22 academic year.
