Program Overview

Law is a diverse subject and studying it could lead you to careers in law, business and similar sectors.

By studying Law you will benefit from

  • A course that will focus on the ‘foundations of legal knowledge’ in years one and two and then offers you the opportunity to specialise in a specific area of law in your final year. These specialist areas include: Business Law, Trade and Finance Law, International Law, Criminal Law and Justice, Social Justice, and General Law.
  • Learning facilities, which include a mock court room known as the Moot Room, our teaching expertise and hands-on approach aim to provide you with the confidence and knowledge to explore legal topics and issues.
  • Over 50 years’ experience of teaching law.
  • A course designed for students looking at potential career options in law, but is equally suitable if you wish to pursue a potential future career in business.

The LLB Law degree at Coventry Law School is recognised as a ‘qualifying law degree’ and thus satisfies the academic stage of training for those students considering a career option as a Barrister, as required by the Bar Standards Board.

From 2021, in order to qualify as a solicitor, the Solicitor Regulation Authority prescribes that a person must:

  • have a degree in any subject (or equivalent qualification or work experience)
  • pass both stages of the SQE assessment - SQE1 focuses on legal knowledge and SQE2 on practical legal skills
  • two years' full-time (or equivalent) qualifying work experience'
  • pass the character and suitability requirements.

The LLB Law (honours) degree aims to partially prepare students for the SQE centralised assessments.
