The BA (Hons) International Fashion Business course is designed to offer you an opportunity to study international fashion business in a creative environment for students, with a range of ambitions and interests in fashion who do not, however, aspire to be fashion designers.
The International Fashion Business BA (Hons) course at Coventry University is designed to appeal to you if you are passionate about fashion business and want to explore and develop the creative and intellectual skills you need for the fast-paced and highly dynamic fashion industry.
The future fashion business graduate will need a broad understanding of the world around them. You will need to understand about cultivating innovation and collaborative approaches to drive the global fashion industry forward with a new responsible directive. The course nurtures individual creativity, business acumen and future employability aspirations and goals. Students on this course will benefit from collaborating with art and design students. This will help them to build relevant networks and understand the myriad nature of disciplines embedded in art and design cultures and industries.
What you'll study
Year one
In Year 1 you will be introduced to the global fashion industry. The first semester modules explore the wider issues and topics that have and are impacted the fashion industry. You will also take part in creative projects around marketing and branding, as well as developing your employability skills. There is also the opportunity to work collaboratively with current International Fashion Business students and other students under the art and design umbrella. You will also have the opportunity to take part in Adobe Creative Suit workshops, which form an essential part of your learning and help you to develop strong visual communication skills.
In the second semester of the course, you will be introduced to Worth Global Style Network (WGSN), the global trend authority for fashion and the creative industries. You can also learn how to develop products for the global consumer. You can gain an insight into how to future-proof fashion business by looking at the environments in which they operate and how this influences decisions organisation makes. Developing your understanding of market levels to enable you to solve problems.

Year two
In Year 2 you will have the chance to develop your entrepreneurial skills and look at how the very latest innovations can be taken out of laboratories into the hands of consumers. You will be introduced to the global buying cycle, sourcing routes and production management, and the relationship of ethics and sustainability to this, all essential skills for future Fashion business managers. You will have the chance to undertake ‘live projects’ on a national and international level, and take part in networking, digital campaign launches and online marketing strategies.

Final year
In Year 3 you will be encouraged to develop a personal brand that communicates your style, ethics, skills, potential and personality to take you beyond Graduation into the global Fashion industry. You will have the opportunity to work on ‘live projects’ and competitions and will be able to develop personal projects such as a business launch, fashion event or public relations campaign which will enable you to analyse the effectiveness of your leadership, communication and team working skills in preparation for graduation.
Throughout the course you will reflect on your skills and experience to help you aim towards achieving your future ambitions.
