Health Psychology MSc

The MSc Health Psychology at Coventry University builds on your undergraduate knowledge and skills to provide an in-depth understanding of health psychology. Used in a range of applied settings, health psychology helps promote healthier lifestyles (e.g. supporting people to lose weight or stop smoking), helps people to live well with long term conditions (e.g. self-manage their diabetes appropriately) and to improve the healthcare system (e.g. advise doctors about better ways to communicate with patients).

Overview

You will complete 11 mandatory modules in total in your first year which will include a mixture of theory-based and research methods modules. The course is grounded in a scientist-practitioner perspective which emphasises the importance of empirical research for applied practice. A critical understanding of research underpins the work of practitioners and is of foundational importance for anyone wishing to practice health psychology. As such, research training in both quantitative and qualitative methods and critical assessment of research is of central importance within the course.
You also engage in your own independent empirical research project on a health psychology-related topic.

A 2:2 undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in Psychology. Applicants with degrees in Science or Social Sciences with 50% study in psychology, will be considered on a case by case basis.
