You must take the following modules, each worth 20 credits with the exception of your Dissertation, which is worth 60 credits:

• Financial Econometrics, Semester 1

• Financial Statement Analysis and Security Valuation, Semester 1

• Portfolio Theory and Investment Analysis, Semester 1

• Private Equity and Venture Finance, Semester 2

• Risk Management in Financial Markets, Semester 2

• Dissertation, Semester 2
   

Optional modules
 

Choose one of the following modules, worth 20 credits each:

• Block Chain Technologies, Financial Applications and Cyber Security, Semester 2

• Market Microstructure and Trading Techniques, Semester 2

A good Honours degree (2:1 or higher) or postgraduate diploma from a UK university or equivalent. The degree must be in a relevant subject and/or applicants must have obtained good grades in mathematical related modules at undergraduate level.
 

GCE A-Level grade C or better or overseas equivalent in mathematics can be considered for meeting the mathematical module requirement. If you would like A Level (or equivalent) mathematics to be considered as part of your application, please upload evidence of these results when making an application. We can only consider these qualifications if they are submitted as part of the admissions application. 
 

• Either: A four year Bachelors degree (first class or very good upper second class)

• Or: A three year Bachelors degree (first class) from recognised institutions in India.

• For MSc programmes, the Business School will consider holders of three-year degree programmes (first class or very good upper second class) from recognised institutions in India.

• For entry to LLM programmes, Birmingham is happy to accept applications from 3 or 5 year LLB holders from India from prestigious institutions.
   

International Students

Standard English language requirements apply (IELTS 7.0 with no less than 6.5 in any band).
 

• IELTS 7.0 with no less that 6.5 in any band
• TOEFL: 95 overall with no less than 22 in any band
• Pearson Test of English (PTE) including online: PTE Academic 76 with no less than 67 in all four skills
• Cambridge English (exams taken from 2015): Advanced or Proficiency – minimum overall score of 185, with no less than 176 in any component
