About

Birmingham Business School is a faculty of the University of Birmingham located in Birmingham, England. It was established in 1902 as the School of Commerce originally. It happens to be the oldest business school in the whole of the United Kingdom. Sir William Ashley became the school's first Chair of Commerce in 1901 when he helped to build the school's commercial programme. From 1902 to 1923, he was the first Professor of Commerce and Dean of the department, which he helped to establish.

 

The university is home to a number of research centres which focus on a range of topics. University of Birmingham’s Business school was ranked as being of international standing as per the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise due to the reputable contribution given by these research centres to Birmingham:
