Optional modules 
 

Choose 10 credits from the following modules. All modules below are worth 10 credits each and take place in Semester 2:

• Corporate Finance

• Development Economic Policy

• Experimental and Behavioural Economics

• International Banking and Finance: Regulation and Supervision

• International Trade Policy

• Monetary Policy

• Natural Resource Economics

• Political Economy and Economic Policy

A 2:1 bachelor’s Honours degree (or overseas equivalent) in Economics or a related discipline. You are expected to have received a good training in economics, to at least intermediate level, and to have taken at minimum: Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Econometrics or Statistics, and Mathematics or a Quantitative module at bachelor’s level.
 

• Either: A four year Bachelors degree (first class or very good upper second class)

• Or: A three year Bachelors degree (first class) from recognised institutions in India.

• For MSc programmes, the Business School will consider holders of three-year degree programmes (first class or very good upper second class) from recognised institutions in India.

• For entry to LLM programmes, Birmingham is happy to accept applications from 3 or 5 year LLB holders from India from prestigious institutions.
   

International Students

Standard English language requirements apply (IELTS 6.5 with no less than 6.0 in any band).
 

• IELTS 6.5 with no less that 6.0 in any band
• TOEFL: 88 overall with no less than 21 in Reading, 20 in Listening, 22 in Speaking and 21 in Writing
• Pearson Test of English (PTE) including online: PTE Academic 67 with no less than 64 in all four skills
• Cambridge English (exams taken from 2015): Advanced – minimum overall score of 176, with no less than 169 in any component
