Programme structure

 

This is a 240 point research-based programme that consists of two parts:

 

Part I

• Core courses in auditory neuroscience, diagnostic audiology, clinical otolaryngology and hearing aids for the impaired (120 points)

 

Part II

• Clinical practicum with emphasis on paediatric audiology (30 points)
• Completion of a thesis (90 points)

Entry to this masters is competitive and is limited to 24 students per year, with selection by academic merit based on your GPE. Entry is also subject to performance in the Multi Mini Interviews process.

 

You must have completed a relevant undergraduate degree at a recognised university (or similar institution) with a GPE of 5.0 or higher.

 

A relevant degree may include subjects in one of health sciences, public health, or science. Whether a degree is considered relevant will also depend on the courses taken; relevant areas may include physiology and psychology.

Fees are set in advance of each calendar year and will be updated on this website. Fees are inclusive of 15% GST, but do not include the Student Services Fee, course books, travel and health insurance, or living costs. Amounts shown are indicative only. In addition to the tuition fees, there is a Student Services Fee of $8.16 per point, estimated at $979.20 for full-time study (120 points). Fees will be confirmed upon completion of enrolment into courses.

Where could this programme take you?

 

Graduates have developed the necessary academic knowledge, research and clinical experience to practice audiology at entry-level. Graduates may work as clinicians in the public or private sector or apply to pursue doctoral study. We advise that the University of Auckland is not involved in the employment of graduates and can make no guarantee of post-qualification registration or employment in New Zealand or any other country.
