Program Overview

Master of Engineering Management (MEM) graduates apply integrated engineering and business knowledge in a technical environment.

You will gain specialised knowledge in engineering management, and have critical awareness of current and emerging issues relating to engineering management in Aotearoa New Zealand and globally.

With communication, planning, interpersonal, management, and leadership skills, you will be able to collaborate with people across multiple disciplines.

Course Content
The Master of Engineering Management is made up of 180 points of coursework. This consists of eight compulsory courses (120 points), a compulsory project course (45 points), and one elective course (15 points).

Study can begin in February or September, and will take between 12-15 months full-time, or up to 4 years part-time.

The compulsory courses in the degree include the following:
- EMGT601 Engineering Management Professional Skills
- EMGT602 Engineering Knowledge Management
- EMGT603 Engineering Project Design and Management
- EMGT604 Management in Technical Organisations
- EMGT605 Sustainability Systems in Engineering
- EMGT606 Technology Development, Application and Transfer
- MBAZ601 Accounting for Managers
- MBAZ605 Business Law
Plus one elective from the optional course list. Note you may choose a 600-level course not in the schedule, with approval.

Plus the final project course:
- EMGT680 Engineering Management Project
Entry Requirement
You must have either a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours, a Bachelor of Science with Honours, or other qualifications of an equivalent standard, and have a GPA of at least 4 in your 300-level and higher courses. You can also apply for admission to the MEM based on previous studies and work experience, with approval.

You will need to have completed both the academic and non-academic requirements of your previous degree. This may include practical work days, work reports, a workshop training course, and a first aid certificate.

If English is your additional language, you are also required to provide evidence of your English language ability with an IELTS (Academic) score of 7.0, with no individual score below 6.5; or other acceptable evidence.
